Thanks for stopping by! This site will give you some helpful hints on being a Traveling Coder. It will give you a kick-start on the technology used for travel blogging, based on my experience from my ongoing 3-year trip as a nomad through both developed and developing countries. I will also offer tutorials for the tools that help me keep chugging along when the Internet is nowhere in sight.
A little bit about me…
My travel partner G and I are currently on a 3-year trip around Asia. There are 20 countries in our Excel Spreedsheet, and we plan to see them all. Of course, what great life-changing experience would it be without a website? A site about our travels can be found at http://www.operationbackpackasia.com, where you can also find gear reviews and travel tips for helping plan that RTW trip you’ve been dreaming about!
Need some help?
I’m a coder, and I’m a traveler. I’m always looking to help fund our next big adventure of the trip so if you need assistance, I am happy to oblige! My technical qualifications include a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona, along with minors in math, computer science, and electrical engineering. Before the trip I managed a 5 year stint at IBM developing for Mainframes and doing quality assurance testing for various IBM storage systems. I am proficient in Java, Python, Ruby, PHP, CSS, and Objective-C.
I am also a Linux and Unix nut. I live and breath shell scripting, kernel building, plist modifying, and other types of enhancing you can do to Linux or OS X. If you would like some assistance with WordPress, Python, CSS, Java, *nix, iOS coding or travel blogging just drop me a line!
